Faith and Children

I have a odd story to tell you about. This morning we where getting in the car and Captain Cutis asked,' Mom when you go to heaven you are gone forever and you do not exist anymore?' My heart sank. Why is a 8 year boy talking about this now.You know. So I dug a little deeper. I told him Brany do you remember what God and Jesus promised to us. He said yes, then I asked what. he said ' Those who believe in me shall have eternal life.' I said yes baby your right, and commented on how proud I was on him that he knew that. Then the hard question came. Well if you live forever than why don't we see U anymore ( my grandma). I told him about how our bodies are a tent that we live in while we are on earth and that they are temperary shelters for our souls. Then he asked Where is her soul than. This is when I really started to sweat. I told him that your soul is who you are, you thoughts, your feelings, and your dreams and imagination. You soul is always with you and your soul will exist forever eternally because you believe and have faith in God and Jesus. Then I told him that if he ever misses U or wants to see her he is always in his heart and he can find her there forever. I told him if he ever fears being non existant to pray to God about etennal life and ask him for a blessing. So at that moment in the Car all three of us prayed for God to help us renew our faith in him and grant us eternal life. He was all happy go lucky and fine. What a test as a mom and a christain all before 8:00 in the morning. These are days where I personally think God challanges me as a parents and as a teacher of his word to the kids. I am glad I could help Captian Curtis and make him understand a little better that his feelings were normall and o.k. These are the thing that come up with being a parent that are so unexpected but are a blessing as well. Just thought I would share that amazing moment.
